Facial Volume

Some treatments to address facial volume loss have been used in for over 20 years. They are made from a sugar molecule (a polysaccharide that forms long molecular chains) that is also found in our bodies (eyes, joints, cartilage and skin), and are a hydrophilic substance, meaning they bind water. Treatments to address facial volume are often for the cheekbones, lips, chin and jawline structures. Different areas of the face may require different treatments. This will be discussed in your consultation.

Every treatment comes with the risk of bleeding, bruising and swelling at the injection site. Please allow 2 weeks for bruising and swelling and it takes 4 weeks for the treatment to settle. Some minor lumps and bumps are normal during these initial 4 weeks. Common risks include redness, swelling and bruising at the treatment site. Other rarer risks include infection, spread (migration), and delayed onset inflammatory reactions or nodules/ granulomas and vascular compromise, very rarely leading to tissue damage, permanent scarring, stroke, blindness and death. It is important to disclose all medical history to your treating practitioner to determine if you're a suitable candidate for treatment, as some underlying medical conditions and medications may increase risks with your treatment.
